I recently noticed an email notification from google saying a user has assigned me an action item in a google docs file. The email actually came from google so i clicked it and it opened a google docs document file within the browser. It had written it was from Bitmain and was saying how the latest miners are on sale blah blah and the document had a link in it. I didnt click the actual link, i realised it was a scam when i saw the google docs file as it was really weird.
I then found this article explaining how this is a pretty common attack lately:
However, i didn’t actually click the link WITHIN the google docs file.
So, i am safe right? I cant get a virus from simply opening a google docs file within web browser can i?
